Choosing RO capacity is not about picking a round number from a catalogue. It is about how water is used on the busiest day of the week. In Delhi NCR that might be a hotel breakfast rush in Aerocity, a hospital shift change in Dwarka, or a factory filling tanks at the start of a batch in Noida. Undersized plants leave people waiting. Oversized plants cost more to buy and often run poorly at low load.
Start with real demand, not a guess
Write down every point of use: drinking fountains, kitchen prep, process batches, laboratory sinks and storage tank top-up. Convert daily volume into peak hourly demand. A school that uses most of its water at lunch needs a different mix of plant capacity and storage than a factory that draws a steady flow for eight hours.
Hotels and hospitals in Gurugram and New Delhi often need more storage than continuous plant flow, so the kitchen is not starved when rooms fill at once. Factories may need the opposite: a plant that can keep up with process peaks without huge tanks. Account for recovery and Delhi borewell water
If the plant recovers 50 percent of feed as product water, feed pumps and pre-treatment must handle about twice the product flow. High TDS or hard borewells, common across Delhi, Faridabad and parts of Noida, may force lower recovery. That means larger upstream filters, softeners or UF, not only a bigger RO skid.
A water test report (TDS, hardness, iron, turbidity) saves a second site visit. If you do not have one, we can guide sampling. Designing on a neighbour’s report is risky. Two plots on the same road can differ.
Leave headroom, but not a plant twice the size you need
A 15 to 25 percent design margin covers growth and membrane ageing. Beyond that, modular blocks or a spare port on the skid are usually cheaper than one oversized frame that sits half idle. If you plan a second kitchen or a new wing in two years, say so at the quotation stage so the first skid can grow.
